Please critique my auction for my dead Klipsch system ASAP

So the amp died on my Klipsch 5.1 THX set and I just replaced the whole thing with a set of the z-5500s. Should I try to sell all 5 satellites or just throw them away with the sub? Would anyone really have a need for 5 Klipsch speakers if they have no sub? And would the amount I get for them be worth the hassle of shipping all of them?

UPDATE - Selling just four satellites since the whole system advertised as dead doesn't seem very appealing and I don't have a box big enough for all five: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8751127316

Decided on no reserve and starting price of $9.99. Good, bad?

Yeah, don't throw them out. They could be used as speakers connected to a receiver.

If someone you know has a POS $100 DVD player/HTIB system, those might be a nice upgrade for them. I think they're 4ohm nominal impedence but whatever 😛

Hell, my HT right now consists of a modded xbox hooked up to some logitech z-5300 speakers. These would be a huge upgrade 😛

Uhm...why would you just get rid of the Klipsch? Do you know that Klipsch will repair your amp for you for relatively cheap? Free if under warranty.

Yes, the Soundman here knows my story. Basically, they're not under warranty, and with shipping I would've had to spend about $125 to get them repaired. The Logitechs were only $230 total, and carry a 3-year warranty when purchased with my CC. If I would've gotten the amp replaced on the Klipsch, it would've had a 60 day warranty, and yes, I've read stories on the Klipsch forums of replacement amps dying. I just wanted a new system I could rely on for the rest of college.

An odd question, and not something I would do, but just curious...could the Klipsch satellites be plugged into the z-5500 subwoofer? The sub I got DOES have regular speaker wire inputs and not RCA inputs.

So the consensus then is to sell all 5? Or should I sell 2 separate pairs maybe? I will list them tomorrow as a four day auction.

Yeah, you could switch out the satellites between the sets.

It would seem to make sense to try to sell all 5 since if you sell two pairs you're going to have one left over.

That's....not something I should actually consider, is it? I'm tempted due to people mentioning the better mids and such of the Klipsch satellites, however it does have a large warning on the back of the Logitech sub not to do this.

And there's no chance any sort of surge of power or anything messed up any of the satellites when the amp died, right?

Would have been a better idea to just buy a nice $150 sub and $100 500w receiver/amp and use the Klipsch sats with that vs buying the Logitech system.

You'd see a HUGE quality improvement. Plus, later on, you could then upgrade the sats, too (perhaps 2 pairs of studio monitors) - and have a kickass home theater setup for your PC.

I think the Klipsch are 4ohm while the logitechs are 8ohm so it's going to put some more stress on the amp, but it should work if you just want to try it.

Nah I'll pass. 😉 Was just wondering. But refer to my post above for what I added.

I was considering that but really didn't feel like delving into it right now. For the next 3 1/2 years I will be in a college dorm, just wanted something that would be under warranty and very satisfying.

Could your satellites be messed up? Sure maybe... I don't know. If you're going to sell them as working though, it would probably be a good idea to test them. They're probably fine.

I sold the satellites and the dead sub from my Klipsch 4:1 system right here in the FS/FT forum ... let them go pretty cheap, but since I wasn't expecting to get anything at all out of them it was totally worth it.

I never even considering selling the dead sub.

I just listed it as what it was ... somone locally had a need for the drivers out of it & paid me $20 for it... took 15 minutes of my time!

Only $20? For an entire set? Well maybe mine will go for more since I think the only thing wrong with them is the amp.
