Pleae comment on this. I got the Dell PowerEdge 400SC because everyone said it was hot in the Hot Deals forum. But I also bought all this stuff for it, and I'm selling the old stuff it came with on eBay or something.

Let me know of any changes or what you think. Also, what do you think of the SATA drive? And the Crucial memory?

A guide for that system reads:

"The 400SC's BIOS seems to allow maximum memory timings of 2.5, 3, 3, 6. Save yourself money: do not buy RAM intended for ultra-high performance overclocking, as that's not possible with the 400SC."

from dells site it looks like you will have to buy ECC ram for it. Also the PSU is only a 250W. You may want to grab a new one of those also.

not sure if the link will work but its the spec sheet for the system. It's got the 875P chipset which is a great chipset with onboard GIG lan, so that's great.

Looks like a good system!

Hello,

It works with non ECC, checked that one already.

Also, I hear that even though the PSU is only 250W, it's a VERY high quality one that can put up with a lot. Not to mention, all I have in there is one hard drive, one CD-RW/DVD combo, and a 9800 pro. I don't think I need more than that much PSU. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

sounds good. I would imagine the PSU is fine, I was just looking towards the new video cards which require a minimum of 350. You could probably get away with that one 😉
