Hi, please advise/comment on my first build proposals below. I'm not going to overclock and just want to build a decent system that's useful for home entertainment/office applications.
After much deliberation I'm looking at
E6400
Gigabyte-GA-965G-DS3 (on board audio + graphics)
Seasonic S12 430W PSU (or poss Corsair HX 520W)
1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 5400C4 (2x512Mb)
Seagate 7200.10 320Gb (+Seagate 7200.09 120Gb that I already have)
Logitech keyboard and mouse
Pioneer DVD 111-D
Lian Li PC7 Plus 2 case
Samsung SM 205BW monitor

I'm really looking for anything with the above set up that's an obvious showstopper for one of you guys or an alternative piece of kit. I've been on most forums, looked at loads of reviews until I've reached saturation point. I can't see anything wrong with the above but it's always good to have an outside expert opinion.
Thanks
Colin

The Seasonic PSU is plenty. No need for more watts on that build.

Well if this is home entertainment/office apps, why are you planning on running a Core 2 Duo E6400???? Also, why bother getting Corsair XMS memory. Get some cheap Corsair, or Mushkin Value Select (or OCZ), and bump the processor down to the cheapest Dual Core you can find.

You have done research on this; however, in the past, I have had bad experiences with Giga-byte. A lot of times they load their boards with features but skimp on a lot of other electrical things and what not. Who knows this board may be better than that, but I personally will stick with Asus, DFI, Biostar, Epox (Perhaps EVGA), and of course Intel.

The PSU is awesome though....as is everything else. You will be pleased.

For your purposes I would knock the processor down a notch to an E6300, drop the XMS memory and go for something cheaper. Then use whatever money you have saved (plus a little more probably) to bump up to 2GB of that cheaper RAM if you are planning on going to Vista.

Good luck!
