Please check my cooling.

I just stripped out the guts out of my old Antec full tower case and installed:

- Asus P8H67-V motherboard.
- Intel i5-2500K with stock cooler.
- Two RAM sticks (2 x 4GB).
- Antec Earthwatts 430w power supply.
- One CD/DVD burner drive.
- Two spinner hard drives.
- One Plextor 64GB SSD.
- No overclocking.

Would one small 80mm fan at the front blowing in and one 80mm fan at the back blowing out + the low volume air power supply blowing out the back be sufficient to cool this?

Or do I need to install the second 80mm fan at the back blowing out too?

Thanks,
Sky

2x80's might do it, if they run fast enough.

What Antec case is it and does it support 120mm fans and what are your current temps with prime95+Furmark?

You'd get greater negative pressure by using another out fan. Your MB should have another 4 pin connector available. I don't believe it is necessary though.

Who still uses negative pressure? It's just more dust and less total air to remove heat in the case.

The case is an Antec SX1030 and it looks like this:

Link to a review for this case:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,1157114,00.asp

It holds a full size ATX mobo. Has the purple plastic brackets to hold 80mm fans: (two on the back) (one at the lower bottom as shown in the picture and one in the lower 3.5" drive cage which is just above the front purple fan bracket. It does not support 120mm fans.

IOW, it can hold two 80mm fans on the front and two 80mm fans on the back. But I want to just install one 80mm 4pin fan on the front and one 80mm 4pin fan on the back since the P8H67-V mobo only has two 4pin fan headers on it. It does have one more 3pin fan header on the mobo.

The old 80mm 3pin fans that were in the case would not spin up when connected to the motherboard. I could use 3pin to 4pin power supply connector adapters and run them directly from the power supply with no rotation speed feedback to the mobo. But those old fans are rather loud, not from age but were always loud from day1.

I can't give any meaningful temps right now since I haven't received the two 4pin fans that I ordered yet. I'm currently running with just the stock cooler fan on the CPU, the one fan in the powersupply, and a household 10" fan blowing into the open case.

Whatcha think? Just one 80mm 4pin fan at the front in the lower drive cage blowing through two 3.5" spinner drives and one 80mm 4pin fan mounted in the lower purple fan bracket on the back have sufficient cooling? If I do this, I will block the upper fan grill on the back from short circuiting air flow to the exhaust fan right below it.

After I receive the two chassis fans and mount them, what CPU temp should I be looking for?

Thanks,
Sky

The mobo has a third fan header but it's a 3 pin with no rotation control. I also think a 3rd chassis fan may not be necessary but thought it wise to check with the gurus here for confirmation.

In your opinion, if I do need to add more fans, should I add one blowing in from the front and have positive pressure, or should I always add fans in pairs with one blowing in and one blowing out?

I do prefer the minimum amount of fans possible.

Thanks,
