Got a question... Right now I'm running an Athlon XP 2100 with the EPoX 8k3A+. Been running at around 60C idle 🙁 . We've tried reseating the Volcano HSF with Artic Silver and it didn't affect it at all. Added another case fan and still no change. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this temp lower or is it that much of a problem?

EPoX 8K3A+
512 DDR 2700
Athlon XP 2100
WD 120 gig HD (7200 rpm)
Gainward GeForce 4 (64mb)

Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about it as that MoBo has problems reading correct Temps fromn the T-breds...I think there were a bunch of BIOS's for it some reading from the die diode and others reading the socket temp

The 8K3A+ was one of the only boards that read the temp directly from the CPU diode AND showed the reading to the user. 60C at the core is just fine on an 8K3A+.

Nah, Athlon XPs run fairly hot, and that's well below the maximum temperature. That's a pretty fast chip, it's expected to run within the range.

ya, listen to mechBgon, put the exact same setup in another motherboard and you'll see 40-45C temps.
