Please advise, what happens if I refuse delivery?

I ordered a laptop that I no longer want from an e-tailer that was a policy of no returns/no refunds on laptops. The item is currently being shipped to my house. What will most likely happen if I refuse delivery of the laptop?

Thank you.

Should've thought about that one a little more then. Probably you could refuse it, it'd get returned to them, and you could get your ccard company to reverse the charge once you proved you refused it. Since you haven't technically received it yet, you could call the company and tell them you're going to refuse it and to refund you, they may just do it.

Edit:

Reading what you just posted, you may be screwed. Even if you refuse and they get it back, they can say that you still owe them, and keep shipping it to you. Since you entered an agreement with them for it they could technically go onto your credit report if you don't pay, not sure though.

What form of payment did you use. Just keep refusing delivery and eventually go to the credit card company and dispute the charge saying the laptop was not what you ordered or something. :p

Ouch, if it's financed through them, you authorized them to open a line of credit in your name. Not sure how that's gonna work out...they may be holding all the cards.

Yes, I made a mistake and I should've thought about it more. I have learned something, and this type of situation won't ever happen again.

I would call and talk to customer service. Let them know you "cannot" pay for the laptop.
Most companies would rather have their product back than to pay to have a collection agency to attempt to retrieve it.
I would just contact them and see what can be done.

Wow, I totally didn't expect the answer I just got.

I called and said that I no longer wanted the laptop. I asked them if I could refuse delivery and just pay shipping expenses. The CSR said, "If you refuse delivery the item will be returned to us, the value will be credited back to the form of payment you used, and you will not be charged for shipping."

:)

If you are looking for people to make you feel better about being a douche, I am not biting.

edit: good for you for calling the company and getting a good result.

The reason I posted here is because I didn't expect that type of answer. Their policy of no returns/no refunds is very clear, and I even had to agree to it before submitting my order. I didn't think there was anything to talk about, and the CSR would just tell me "you agreed to our policy before purchasing the laptop, you're S.O.L."

<Edit>Make me feel better? Please. I just wanted to know what would happen if I refused delivery. The worst case I could come up with is they keep the laptop and send me a bill anyway, saying I already agreed to pay it. I would just be making more trouble for myself then, and I would just accept the laptop.

It's your own damn fault. You ordered something, it was made/they got it, you pay for it. Suck it up.

Nice of the company, though. What company is it?
