Hi guys, I am currently gathering all informations I can before deciding to upgrade or build a new rig. My currrent PC Specs are as follows

Current Rig
Intel i5 2500 3.3ghz
ASUS p8h67-mLE
ASUS Geforce 450GTS 1gb
Kingston 4gb DDR3 1333mhz
500gb HDD ( no idea on branding )

Now the following will be my parts for the new rig.

New Rig
Intel i5 4960 3.5ghz
ASRock z97 Extreme 4
8gb x 2 Corsair Vengence CL9 DDR3 1866mhz
Palit Geforce 970 GTX Jetstream 4gb ( Already purchased )
WD Red 2TB HDD

If my suggested route is to do a upgrade, I will still be buying the Corsair ram, my WD HDD and will be using the 970.

So my question is

1.) Will my difference be great with the upgrade?

2.) I will not be OC-ing any thing even in the next few years. So factor that into consideration.

3.) Games I will be playing, DA:I, NBA 2k15, GTA V to name a few. Which rig will enable me to play at Ultra Settings at 1080p?

Price factors not taken into account as our prices will be different.

Thanks in advance for the help.

1. you will see so significant improvement from the cpu mobo ram and HDD upgrade

2. get a SSD.

*edit*
Although the new mobo will have PCIe 3.0, not sure if the video card will work on 2.0, you might have upgrade anyways..

agreed with DesiPower on no significant improvements. Also, I just received a 256GB Samsung 850 Pro SSD($130@Newegg w Paypal promo) and installed it in my son's computer(HP Phoenix H9-1350 stock, with XFX R9 280x) and games and programs load super fast!!!! Reviews on this site were the deciding factor. Best consumer grade SSD out!!

No.

I'll guess no for GTA V, likely yes for NBA, and maybe for DA:I.

Just get the 970 and move up to 8GB RAM. With no SSD, that would be a good way to spend some of what would have gone to new CPU and mobo..

No.

:thumbsup: Agree with this an the other advice to the same effect. While a Haswell CPU is faster than your Sandy Bridge, it's not a worthwhile improvement in the face of the alternatives.
