Pleas Help! Asus A7V motherboard with Thunderbird 900

I just purchased all new parts for a new computer. The motherboard just arrived today and I've been so anxious to put it together. I followed the directions pretty good I believe, however my computer is just not working. I have a 900mhz thunderbird and I believe to have hooked up everything correctly, however, my computer doesn't turn on. The first time I pressed the power button, the computer turned on for about 10 seconds (maybe less), but that is it. When I turn on the power supply switch located in the back of the case the fan turns on for about 2 seconds and the green light on the mainboard lights up. I have no clue what to do. If anyone could help me I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks, Gene.

Hmm that does sound odd. I was first gonna say your Power Supply could be faulty but it is giving juice to your Mobo
Sorry man.
Can anyone help this guy out??

That's a normal problem that i too encountered.

Can't remember what i did exactly but i switched off main power, waited a while and then restarted it.

When it did the same thing, i merely pressed the reset button and then went into the bios and changed some settings. Something to do with the AC powerloss restart option.

jinson is right, you have to screw around pushing the power button, and the reset button until you get the bios straightened up. Try lowering the bus speed to 100, and the multiplier to 6 using the dipswitches, then power on disable all of the items under the power up control menu, then go back to your correct settings. Also don't set the bus dipswitches to 133, as this is the processor bus, not the memory bus. That would stop boot as the processor can't boot at 266 mhz. the memory selector is in the bios.

Another possibility is that some of your hardware isn't properly seated. You should probably try to boot with only the required hardware just to see if it would work (CPU, RAM, video card).
