There's this tv game show that airs at 2 a.m. on channel 11 (I'm in NYC btw), and you can win cash prizes up to $400 by solving word puzzles. You can either call them, text message or go online to answer (there's a charge of 1.50 when you call or text).

I'm kind of skeptical because the puzzles are so simple, so is this legitimate or some kind of a scam?

Go figure, it's the first time I'm watching this, can't sleep right now. Isn't this illegal and why are people still calling in then? Sorry, but I don't know how this works.

It isnt illegal. They clearly state the costs that are incurred from calling/texting. People are just stupid/naive enough to think that they are the only ones that know the answer and therefore call up or text them.

yea, i saw that the other night. i thought to myself "why would i pay to try to win something that i probably won't win?" i even remember the question. it had the word "Snow" surrounded by a box of letters you could make another word out of. the lady kept saying you can make another word but it cannot be "Ball." an idiot could have seen that "Storm" was right under "Ball" vertically.

WHAT!?!?! I feel kinda dumb. My lil sister was bugging me to text them up so I did it twice. Dang.
