Playstation2 Problem with 2002 Games

Posted this in the hardware forum, but I got no response.

I've had my ps2 since november of 2001. It plays all my 2001 games fine. But when it comes to 2002 games, the system has all sorts of problems, from taking too long to load to saying disc error. The only exception with this is Triple Play 2002. The last two brand new games I've purchased have fallen into this category: Silent Hill 2 works fine while NFS2: HP and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 falter. Is there anything I can do? Please help
 
I have made a quide regarding this issue. When I get home, I will post it for you.

The SIMPLE fix is usually that the lens is just dirty, buying and using a CD-cleaner should fix it. I don't think you wanna hear about the long fix 😉

just get a can of compressed air. and spray it in teh PS2 it will blow any dust away.

uhhh, yeah. My hosts decided to just up and cancel my account because they are going out of business or something... so if anyone wants my guide/ wants to host my guide, PM me.
 
The damn thing worked after I got a lens cleaner. The guy at the game shop waited to tell me after I'd returned two new games. He said the older PS2s had that problem. In the end I ended up wasting valuable time and he now has to sell two good games at a loss. What an idiot.
