Playstation Warranty?

I just bought a MGS4 bundle and a one year warranty for it. But then I realized, assuming my PS3 broke, what would happen if I sent it in for repair? Would they repair it and send back the same system? Or would they replace it with some other PS3 that doesn't have the backwards compatibility?

As far as I have heard if you send in a PS3 you get the same type of PS3 back. Although you may not get "your" system back.

I have the 60gig PS3 they don't make anymore....I sent it back for warranty earlier this year, and they replaced it with another identical unit.

The turnaround is usually less than 24 hours, so they usually just send a previous repaired PS3 back to you.

There's a reason taking out your PS3's HD doesn't void the warranty. If the problem doesn't involve the HD, they'll ask you to take it out before sending it in. And yes, you'll get back the same model of PS3 you sent in.
