I bought this at a garage sale for $10 w/ 5 controllers, a Need for Speed game, and a multiplatform component cable. So I don't really feel ripped off, but I've never had a PS2 and would like to get this working (was a big fan of the Suikoden series in the PS1 days).
Anyway, like the title says, the red power light stays on but I can't power on the console to show the green light. If I press the power button, it flashes green for a split second, then then the light turns off, then turns back on again to red. This all happens within about 1 to 1.5 seconds.
What can I do? Searching seems to indicate that either the power connecter needs resoldering or a fuse needs to be replaced. Nobody says how to do these things or how to narrow down which is the issue. I don't wanna spend much at all getting this working. I do already own a solder pen and solder that's been in the closet but don't know how to use it - if it's something simple I'll try but I need to know what to do
