You know, I have several vita and psp games I really like, but even though I own all the portable consoles, I really dont like playing on a small screen (I mostly play games at the house, not out on the road, so the actual portability doesn't mean anything to me).

My very first reaction to the op (havent read the article yet) was, if I could play my vita games on the big screen, that would almost be worth it....ah, who am I kidding, I have no interest in renting games, or streaming games. None, 0, zilch.

In fact, since the future of gaming (and movies, and tv, and just about everything else in life) seems to be streaming, cloud based crap, and the future of the internet seems to be toll, pay for your actual usage, so basically these companies are going to be ripping all the customers a new one, just for the privilege to be their customer....

the future looks quite bleak.

I just wish that vita tv had come over to the states. I know I seemed to be the only person who seemed interested in it at all. But, that would have been a great product...for me...and probably would have lost alot of money, sadly (as it seems to have did in japan)

If it ever came down to being that bad...and I agree it looks like it could eventually...I would just cut them out of my life. Seriously. I went years without watching television. It isn't hard. I have too many hobbies as it is. I think the only piece that everyone NEEDS these days is some sort of internet access. Beyond that, it is all fluff.

Companies have put themselves in a position that people think they HAVE to put up with it all. Cell phones? Why do people put up with it? The annoyance of them far outweighs the convenience. They get away with the prices and bad customer service because people let them. Many of today's "must have" items are not must haves, they are simply luxuries. None of my family had cell phones when we were kids and we grew up just fine, yet you can't go 10 feet without some 10 year old with their own cell phone.

BTW, not a fan of this service. I've messed around with it long enough to know if this is the future, I won't be a part of it.

I played some Dead Island Riptide on PS4 streaming and it wasn't great but it could just be Dead Island as those games were always buggy as hell. I'll try another game tonight.

I still have to use my code for that and try it out. My friend told me there is an update for the ps4 probably stability drivers again.

I think a cell phone is probably one of the worst examples you could have come up with. Sure, you don't need it. Just like you grew up fine without a cell phone, lots of other people grew up just fine without electricity and running water. The convenience of a cell phone is just insane, you're connected almost anywhere you go these days. Somebody can contact you at any time, you can contact others at any time since they are likely to have a cell phone, you can video chat almost anywhere, check email for work or pleasure, use GPS, have a detailed map of the entire world, have a very good quality camera for pictures or videos anytime you want, music, entertainment....the possibilities are crazy.

I wouldn't want to go back to living in a time where we don't have the modern smart phone.

I guess that's where we differ. I don't want nor need to be connected to everyone all the time. That is what makes it the perfect example. It is not a necessity, but many people think it is and what you show is evidence of that. Companies have most wrapped around their fingers with features that people consider necessary. No point arguing it here though, I was just venting ;p
