Playstation Home

I absolutely love my PS3. I just don't get why people are so excited about home. Could somebody that has a PS3 and is excited about home explain what's going to be so great about it? I've read about it and it just seems like it's going to be something I go into once or twice to look around and then I never go back to it.

Your post fails in that is presupposes that people are excited about Home.

Second Life with Achievements and Sponsors

fixed 🙂

It already did have Sponsors though, didn't it? It just didn't have any users...

Except for the WIRED staff, I suppose.

Oh, honestly I dont know if it has actual sponsors. I do know that Sony intends to try and get companies to have branded merch to buy with microtransactions though.

I always thought that Chris Satchell's initial comments on Home were pretty good:
http://www.computerandvideogam.../article.php?id=159636

"It's a cool world but it's like a little game by itself. Our approach is the other way around; it's that games are the center and that's the star of the show, that's what people buy the console for."

...

I was referring to Second Life. I believe it has/had companies who setup shop within the virtual world to advertise and sponsor events.

Me too?

my head now hurts.

after being in the lobby system of hot shots golf, which lets you create a tiny character and walk around and chat w/people, i am even less excited than i was before (which was none) about HOME. it's a pointless middle ground to get into online games (in hot shots golf) that doesn't even seem necessary at all.

Ironically, Sony's "well, we're going to refocus on the gaming aspects in Home" announcement was what killed my interest in it. A virtual world, that's interesting to me. A glorified lobby, not so much.

You can sit on your virtual couch in your virtual home and watch movies with your virtual friends. LoL! What is not to like!!!

LULZ! Yea, it looks like I'm not missing anything. Oh well, just give me Metal Gear Solid 4. Mmmmmmm.... can't wait.

It's no secret that the PS3 had a bit of a rough first year. When Home was announced, it was something for PS3 owners to hang their hats on and hype up during a time when Lair and Heavenly Sword were getting less-than-AAA reviews.

Since then, however, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, and several other exclusives have come out (or have been dated/announced) and the PS3's future is looking much brighter.

So now most people look at Home and give it the *yawn* it deserves. 😛
