Hey guys, I'm wondering if any of you play your playstation games on an emulator? I've got all the final fantasy games I want to play, but my old first gen psx is borked to hell. Can you recommend a good psx emulator that runs reasonably well with Squaresoft games?

I used bleem once upon a time, you can have the CD for free if you want it. If you have win98 i have a USB-Playstation adaptor you can have too. I was going to throw them both out. PM me if you're interested.

As for how well it worked, i can't remember, i think i wanted to play one of the games that wasn't supported or something like that.

I'm thinking of getting FF7 for PSX - to run on PC, so if you manage to find a good emu, it would be nice. PSX versions of FF7 are about 1/3 the cost of PC versions (£45 for PC, £15 for PSX, totally stupid!)

bleem! doesn't work very well with the FF games. Last time I looked 8 & 9 had never been tested, and you have to play 7 without the menues at the bottom of the screen (I know about the last one; I tried it myself. High-res FF is cool, but it's a real pain to play w/o seeing the controls.) IMO, you're better off scraping together $50 and getting a new PSOne.

I guess the next question is: What's a good controller for these emus? Assuming I can't get the adaptor MegaloManiaK has to work under XP, what controllers should I look at?

bleem went out of business.. haha

The d-pad does suck, but these are still the best ones that I have found. Where can I get the USB adaptors for the real PS controlers?

As good of a gamepad that the sidewinder is, you don't want it for psx games. Why? No analog sticks. Some games don't use them, some games do though.
