PlayStation 4 Pre-orders Roar Across Amazon

NextPowerUp said:
As of now, "Launch Edition" is completely sold out, unless more sellers join Amazon, and offer their allocation up for the scheme.

According to NextPowerUp (Spinoff TechPowerUp site) the PS4 is outselling Sony's forecasted projections and they are concerned there will be a shortage. Between the realization that the XBox1 will be more expensive, the hardware will be slower, and M$'s announcement of the planned DRM practices it appears it's are a win/win/win for Sony.

This isn't a VC&G topic; moving to Console Gaming

I don't know the exact numbers but most online stores I looked at sold out of PS4 preorders fast. Amazon seems to have finally sold their crop of Xbox Ones but Best Buy still has them.

I don't know. Xbox is losing out at least in the initial round because the hardcore old guard has all the disposable income. That's most gamers over 20. These practices will eventually become the norm. Sony has just delayed it for another five years. Get the upcoming crop used to them now to ease the digital transition. That's my theory.

I don't think there is any denying we are going to move to a fully digital future. But there are many ways to go about it and the path MS has decided to go is NOT one of the good ways. The right way to do it? Good Old Games (DRM free fair sales) or Steam (tons of highly discounted sales and other features).

MS created some weird half CD, half digital bastard child without the benefits of either. I'm definitely going to see how the Xbox One plays out over the first few months before considering one. I preordered a PS4 the day of the conference at amazon, so hopefully I'm in the first allocation.

Yep, just like paying for online multiplayer. Sony fans always made sure to note it in console wars but now simply accept it and excuse it. I'm sure the same will happen in the future if there is another console generation.

It's accepted because now there's no difference; it was obviously a major benefit previously.

PS+ is still excusable as a whole; those of us already subscribed previously will see no difference as it already has OTHER benefits.

Most actually think it is BS, one of the reasons you don't hear as much bitching about it though is because quite a few PS3 owners have been PS+ members for a bit already because it is currently a great value and many were willing to continue on with the sub. Does it make it right that Sony is charging for online now though? No, it was the one con to their PS4, the pluses at least vastly outweigh it though.

One of my biggest issues with Live still exists and doesn't on the PSN though. The fucking ads. It infuriated me that there was so much screen space taken up with ads, there shouldn't be any ads if I am paying, give me the option to turn them off.

In the end though, we have all of you Xbox Live Gold members to thank for making us pay for multiplayer. MS showed people are willing to take it up the ass and Sony decided to do it now too.

Same arguments are being made now with DRM and used games with the X1. Let that shit slide we are all dealing with it in another gen.

Easy enough to check. They changed the pre day units to a different SKU and your preorder will have updated if you're getting on day 1. Best to think of the xb1 as a DD only console, with the ability to load from discs as well. Pretty clear that they wanted a DD model and realized that caps and low speed net were still too common.

I have a 360 and my next system is going to be a PS4 I am voting with my wallet and skipping Microsoft's offering this time. Everyone I know is also doing the same.

No it won't be the norm. In many places on this planet Earth what MS is doing is flat out illegal.

It won't matter much on the short term. Both will sell out due to heavily constrained supplies. If Sony wants to win, they need to be able to churn out new systems faster than Microsoft can. For every person here who mint buy an XBOne, there's someone else who will either because they don't know or don't care.

All I know is that I should've bought two PS3 3D displays last year when they were $99 at Best Buy on BF. I have been using it as my PC monitor and it has been great.
