**edit**FoBoT** there is already a PS4 thead, including DRM discussion in the Console Gaming subforum*
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2235523

No more buying used games, no more game rentals, no more borrowing friends games.

Good, bad, indifferent??

One thing that may disappoint gamers is Sony’s apparent decision to take an aggressive stance against used games, akin to what Microsoft is expected to do in the next Xbox. Discs would be locked to the console once they are played. This will kill the massive used game business that GameStop and other retailers have built over the years, but on the other hand it puts more profits in the pockets of the developers

Horrible idea.

I will not be purchasing the new Xbox or Playstation if they're taking that stand. Shit, I barely use the two Xbox 360's I have as it is.

Apathy. The only stuff I play on consoles are the exclusive sort of titles and I'm happy to keep them around anyway.

I only buy new games and I buy them on Amazon. Zero affect on me, but it hurts Gamestop, so /applaud

I am down to playing a video game once a week, at most for an hour. So, this topic doesn't really affect me anymore. This will be the last generation of consoles I buy, and I pretty much just keep my PS3 around because of the blu-ray player and netflix and hulu.

Yeah I'll just buy a media server like Roku, or whatever is best at the time. I don't game on consoles so I only use it for Netflix or Blue Rays.

I won't be happy about this but it definitely won't push me back into PC gaming. I rarely sell my used games and usually buy new after a game has been out for awhile so don't really expect much impact.

I never liked Steam for this reason.... but at least with Steam I have the option of buying a disc elsewhere.

Steam does the same, so I don't see it having a major effect. What it might hurt is parties. Any time you have system links going on you often end up with one person bringing the game while another brings their system.

This is what the goal of the "anti-piracy" crap have been, the real goal. Killing the used game and Gamestop racket. That costs the developers far more than any piracy is supposed to. It however doesn't look as good to go after used games as it does piracy.

I don't mind Steam because I'm knowingly getting a digital only copy. Consoles, on the other hand, have the ability to use physical media and physical media can be transferred to another party.

To everyone moaning about this, do you realise every time you buy a used game you are putting money into the pocket of someone who had absolutly nothing to do with making *insert name of the cool game you want to play here*.

Now ask yourself why new games prices have gone up by something like 50% over the last few years.

I have absolutly no problem with companies announcing things like but give us some carrot with the stick and announce a 30% reduction in RRP for any game conforming to these rules.

Developer spotted.

I don't give a fuck where the money goes.

Also LOL @ you thinking prices are going to go down because of this.

Seriously, if he's going to complain about that then he should be fair and complain about the entire used goods trading market.
