Yet another (in a long series) reason why I won't be buying the PS3. Not only will you get ripped on the price of the console itself, but you're going to get even more ripped off because you will no longer even 'own' the games you buy. Thanks, but no thanks Sony.

I'm part of the prime market for PS3's -- I'm not a fanatic, but I enjoy playing games and I own some consoles and regularly buy games. I would be one of the folks buying a PS3 (just like I bought the PS2), but they've done a fantastic job convincing me that the Xbox is a better deal.

What did Sony offer at the PS2 launch? Crap, Promises, Crap and more Crap. Still sold like hotcakes off a naked woman's belly.

Sony is in a position now where they can sell on name alone. It may be tougher with a $500/$600 console but it will still sell. Not to me though...I've got better things to do with my money.

Exactly my point. But Sony sold the PS2 off the hype earned from the PSOne. But now people have been burned multiple times by Sony... from the bad PS2 systems and lack of games at launch to the PSP with it's horrendous lack of games. You mearly need to look at Sega to see what happens after multiple misteps.

heh which again, is re-enforcing my belief that the PS3 will have a killer launch and not much after it :)

This should be just about as successful as DIVX (the movie format, not the codec)...

Who owns the physical game disc?
What if my disc gets lost, stolen or destroyed, does Sony send me a new one?
When I am done playing with the game, does Sony pay me a pro rata refund when I return the disc to them?
Can the license be gifted?
Can more than one person play the same game (roommates, family, friends, etc.) or does everyone have to buy/bring their own disc (or at least "own a license")?

And that is just off the top of my head...

Haaaaaa

Sony is kidding themselves if they think people will follow this. Sure maybe they can force gamestop to not sell PS3 games used, but I'd like to see them try it in the private sector. If I buy a PS3, and thus I buy PS3 games - they're mine to do whatever the fvck I want to do with them. I'd be so bold as to send sony a receipt attached to a letter:

"I just sold this PS3 game, which was mine to sell, for $5. WTF are you going to do about it?"

I've never gotten into the whole used/pre-played game market myself, so I could care less. The likes of EB and Gamestop who do this overprice their pre-played games anyway. I'm usually one who will buy a game close to release, and why would I want to buy a pre-played game at $55, when I can it brand new at $60?

You guys get too worked up. I'm old enough to figure out when I'm getting screwed or not, and I decide my own purchases. So why should I get mad?

Gamestop often runs a buy 2 get 1 free deal on their older used games... so I walk out with 3 games for thirty bucks.

Sony is stupid to generate more hates. Sony is not invincible, their UMD movie disc alreay fail miserably. maybe the bigger it is, the harder it fall... maybe it's time for Apple to enter the console market with a trendy name
