Playstation 2 vs X-Box

Heres the situation:
I had a PS2 about a year or two ago which broke on me. It started making a weird noise and would no longer read the disks. while i got rid of the system i kept the games, controller, mem card, etc.
My girlfriend got me a PS2 for valentines, but said she wasn't sure which i wanted between the two so i can always exchange it.

I would like Xbox because of Halo 1+2, and Fables (seems really interesting) and a few other games, but i would have to buy the accessories

PS2 has a few games that i like: Devil May Cry series, GTA, Metal Gear solid.

so what system does everyone have and prefer?
I'm thinking "This thread sucks...." will win by a huge margin

if you get an xbox, you gotta mod it to get the full potential and power out of it

but if you stick with the ps2, you know what you got and it's still damn good

i have both systems now but i mainly use the xbox for roms and stream movies / tv shows off my pc to my tv

i had both systems, and both are modded, and i haven't played my ps2 in almost a year probably.

and one thing, xbox live will make you play xbox like 100x more. i HIGHLY recommend it.

IMO, i would get xbox + xbox live + halo 2.

i still play halo 2 almost every day on xbox live, it is great.

xbox 2 and ps3 will be out soon.. you really can't wait???
anyways the ps3 may be compatible with ps2 games, but the xbox 2 probibly won't. If that makes a difference to you.

Two years ago got our boys one of each. We noticed that the XBox was getting most of the attention and they were literally fighting over the XBox. We figured they just liked the games they had for the XBox better so we bought several for the Playstation to attempt to solve the problems.....Result.....Both kids asked why we bought them the Playstation games and told us not to buy anymore of them because Playstation "sux" according to them........

any clue as to when they will be out? also keep in mind that she already bought the PS2, i just have the option of trading for xbox...

is it difficult to mod the xbox?
and doesn't the PS2 have online capabilites as well?

you do have online options with PS2 but they are not close to being as smooth as xbox live

rumors are xbox next could be out end of this yr but these are just rumors that will probably not get confirmed til E3 when sony / microsoft will most likely give info to the public

If you like RPGs, you have to go with the PS2. Otherwise, Xbox will probably suit you better.

well, you can play every PS2 game on an emulator on the xbox, so why in the world would you buy a PS2?

It's not possible, go to any Xbox scene board and the topic has beaten to death. It cannot emulate it at any decent speed. There are a couple for the PC but they run only a couple games (very few).

exactly, one isnt better then the otherm PS2 has games that Xbox does not and they are kick ass games

Most real gamers I know have all 3 Xbox, PS2 and Cube and a PC to boot. Real gamers gamers can't be fanboys. It's the games that count not the box you play it with.

I used to love the PS2... However, since I bought my XBox, I haven't touched the PS2 at all except for San Andreas. All the while I'm playing San Andreas I just kept thinking, "wow this game would be sweet on the XBox..."

Now I'm keeping it just for GT4 or else I would sell the damn PS2, it's a waste of space.
