Is it possible to connect a Playstation2 game console to a PC monitor instead of TV? Wondering if there is some kind of hardware that can do the trick, or if any of you have figured out a way to do this.

Thanks in advance

You can get "TV to PC"-type converters. They usually convert the yellow RCA out to VGA out. They're like $100.

Or, you could install a TV-tuner card. You could prolly get some of the older PCI cards on eBay for $30-ish. The older ones usually work with coax output.

Of course, there are some monitors that actually have TV hookups on the back. Mostly, I think it's just LCDs. One of those would work.

Someone asked about this a few days ago. You just need to head to your local "gamer's store" and ask for a VGA box or converter (describe what you want... connect your PS2 to your PC monitor). Several manufacturers make them and all are available for well under $100 (more like $30-$50). You DEFINATELY DO NOT want to connect your PS2 to your monitor via a PC TV tuner card. All you'll get is terrible ghosting and/or unsatisfactory results.

You must have used a really terrible TV tuner card... mine, even my old one from 1996, look great with console games.
Results were definitely satisfactory.

VGA Adapter
I think that VGA adapter from Lik-Sang is perfect for you. Cheap, obviously extremely easy to install, sounds like it produces a fairly decent image (sharper/higher-resolution than a TV, anyway).

As for the guy with the 9700... Radeon's AIW (All In-Wonder) cards feature TV-in and -out. If you have an AIW card, you could use that.
