PlayStation 2 Network Adapters?

Does anyone know of a reputable on-line vendor that has these things in-stock?

If not, what store that I might find locally would carry them?

you dont have to buy the sony adapter there are a few usb to ethernet adapters that work for ps2 dlink and linksys brands mostly

I would rather get the official Sony adapter. I've had some bad experiences in the past with 3rd party accessories.

my friend said that he can use his wireless 802.11b usb nic and hook it up to his router. is that true?

Good question. I haven't tried it. I do know you can buy a wireless bridge for your PS2 (or any) network adapter to turn it into a wireless NIC. Linksys makes them.

FWIW, I just tried to add one at gamestop.com and it said In-Stock and that it would ship "Usually in 24 hours."

In my search, I did see that Best Buy was no longer taking orders for it. I wonder what that is all about.

try half.com. you can usually get one for $48 shipped after a $15 coupon that's floating around.

Try your local stores first.. I picked one up the first day they were out at Best Buy, and later I went to a.. someplace in the mall and they had one left I picked up for a fellow AT member here; tried 3 places previous to that place.
