Do you leave it on all the time, or turn it off when you're done playing?
One of my memory cards needs the 'software' re-loaded every time the machine is turned back on.. and that's annoying?

I turn it off. It saves power, and keeps it from overheating.

Besides, I was playing Metal Gear Solid 2, and I was told that I had been playing too much, and that I needed to turn the console off by the game. When the thing tells you that you should turn it off, you should turn it off.

See my sig.

I turn mine off (on standby), but never hard power-off (switch on the back always stays on)

Ditch the crappy mem-card and get a regular one, I've seen so many of those junky mem cards just crap out completely and lose savegames.

I always turn mine off when I'm done with it, I have this thing with using too much electricity... it bothers me greatly ;D. So, if I'm done its off. When I'm done with my computer, its off. If I don't need a light on, its off. The only things that I ever leave on all the time are my DSL router, Wireless AP, network switch, and my laptop. When summer rolls around it'll become a bigger issue with the AC on all the time..

Uhh, you mean the point in the game where the general guy tries to get you to turn it off? You fell for that. Hah.

Anyway, having the system in standby (once the LED goes red) doesn't hurt the system. It's the way it's meant to be shutdown. Flipping the switch in the back really makes no difference. I suppose if there is a thunderstorm, and you're afraid it'll get fried you should turn it off, but that's the only reason I would. It doesn't take much electricity to keep that LED glowing.

What were we supposed to be looking for in your sig, anyhow?

Yeah I don't understand people who insist on COMPLETELY turning off their PS2s. Once it's off with the LED lit, the only power consumption is the LED. A PS2 in standby uses less power than a charging cordless phone or a desk clock.

Well, I was going to quit playing anyway, so I walked inside of that long tube room, saved, and quit. My roomate said that in MGS1, you had to put the controller in the second port to kill the boss, so I thought "What the hell".

The scissors thing. That was the funniest thing that the colonel said.

I always turn it off because I rarely use it. I guess if you played it everyday all the time it would be ok to leave it on.

Standby only. The other dumbasses in my old house liked to "save power" by switching it off - so poof go the DVD customizations and PIN code, ditto for the PSX compatibility settings. :|
