Finally we got the 2.0 update today.

Improved voice commands
Themes
Youtube app
Share play
Live from playstation tweaks
Stream directly to youtube
Usb media player

Im glad to see this update. Sure some things are still missing but this is a pretty big update for the ps4. Good things in this update and hopefully we get some other stuff we've been asking for soon.

What are your thoughts on the update?

I won't be able to check it out until I get home from work but themes and especially organization are the biggest things for me. I loved themes on the PS3, there were so many. The PS4 badly needs game folders, with the free games we get plus whatever you buy, the list quickly gets long.

It has 15 tabs now then a library folder and your supposed to be able to adjust it. I wish it was folders like the ps3 but i just got the update so im still playing around with it

installing now.

Well, the home screen is a bit cleaner. However the library folder is cluttered and ridiculous. I noticed when you get an invitation from PSN you press the PS button and it opens right up. No need to navigate to the "app"

Cheked just a couple of new features on the morning the new youtube app is Ok, the only thing that is great in my opinion is that the voice commands works well even on spanish (my main lenguage) used xbox one a couple of times and that is not possible. When I get to home I'll check the themes thing... I just hope they'll not get crazy with the prices of that kind of things...

Wondered why I was prompted to update today. Nothing that interesting or exciting for me. Still waiting on suspended play like the XB1.

SharePlay is live now too. One guy was playing the new CoD on stream and getting mass requests to open up share play so people could try it lol.

There are some free themes available on PSN. I like the Spiral one. The Destiny and CoD themes are boring static pictures.

It's alright. I like having my themes back. Home screen is a bit less cluttered. I'm not a terribly big fan of Orbis OS in general though. In some ways, it seems like a step back from the XMB.

I've yet to dabble in the other new features. I think SharePlay is going to be the biggest one for most people.

Am I the only one that thinks the USB music feature is half baked? Is it really that difficult to get songs to play from the hard drive?

Suspend/resume is still firmly in the vaporware camp. Saw a post on Twitter claiming Sony was still working on it.

The playshare worked great for me tonight. I had a friend join me and we played plants vs zombies and nba 2k15. It worked surprisingly good. We only had 1 cutout during 3 games of nba 2k15. Plants vs zombies worked perfectly, not a single cut out in a 40 minute game.

He then hosted and we played a game of madden and that worked pretty good. The share play is very dependent on your network bandwidth tho. It was a little pixelated when he hosted on his 9 mbps down and 3mbps up connection but my 50 down 10 mbps upload worked seamlessly for us.

So far im really impressed with share play. I like the idea of it because you can play a game with a friend if you dont own it and its really nice for sports games. If i want to play a game of madden i can just ask him to play and if he wants to play 2k15 he can ask me.

Kudos to sony on this feature. Give it some time and hopefully they get everything all figured out and working smoothly for everyone.

The 2.0 update is a success in my eyes with shareplay. Yeah the media from a usb is pretty half ass, not like playing it from your hard drive would take much more effort.

The themes suck so far and ill wait til we get some cool dynamic themes. I just changed the color of flow and left it be.

Yeah I was thinking the same when I read how you play music now. Plex is on the Xbox One now and after seeing this USB thumb feature I really don't see many media playing features coming around to the PS4. Its not the end of the world but still would be nice..

Any details on the updated voice commands? They've been pretty useless up till now IMO

Well so far the 2.0 update:

Voice commands actually are significantly worse for me. Before I could mumble and it understood perfectly and executed quickly. Now it takes 5 tries before it understands no matter how clearly I speak.

The party chat toggle from in game chat to party chat is gone. You now have to click into a few menus. Who thought this was a good idea? Totally lame.

Also the number one reason why I bought the PS4 was for the highly touted suspend/resume feature. The fact that this isn't here yet and probably isn't coming really burns me. If it wasn't for bloodborne I would probably sell it and get an Xbox one since that seems to have developed into the console with features I've been wanting.

That's long been my biggest complaint about the PS4. It's a huge step forward over the PS3 in some ways, but a big step back in others. I actually don't use mine for media at all. It's also why the PS3 hasn't been relegated to the basement TV.

What do you mean here? When I join a party on psn it immediately mutes the game chat audio.

Yeah but then if you want to go back into the game chat audio it used to be a simple toggle switch. Now you have to click into chat settings or whatever. This may not seem like a big deal but if you play destiny with a friend or two on chat but then are meeting people in game to play with it becomes pretty annoying.

would be nice if we could now get some exclusives for ps4. haven't turned mine on in months cause there is nothing on it. still don't think drive club ps+ edition is even out, but i've completely lost interest in that game anyways unfortunately, due to their totally botched launch.

also looks like this update is bricking some people's consoles, but this always happens when these huge updates roll out with everyone updating.

What we do in destiny is start a psn chat and invite people there so you don't have to friend them to invite them in the game. Sometimes friend requests take forever and we usually get people from forums so it is easier. They can join session from the psn chat window. Plus destiny occasionally loses voice audio for some reason.

I have never had to switch back and forth so I dunno about how that works.

Yeah an update a couple months ago was locking people out of their xb1.

I wonder what kind of files this usb media player can play? If flexible enough this could be a good alternative to DLNA, at least until it is released.

Will be trying this out after work.

I did notice that the Vita also received a new firmware update, which the major change seems to be that you can now remote into the PS4 with up to four Vitas at once. I'm assuming that this firmware change will most likely require the PS4 to be at 2.0.

Don't give two Fs about anything in that last.

Other than youtube and BIG TIME USB media player. I want to see how that damn thing works. Off to DL the update now.

Anybody here try MP4? I put an mp3 into MUSIC folder on thumbdrive and an MP4 into the same and I see only USB Music Player on the system. How can this thing run an mp4 now...? I don't see any listed.

So, uh, still no @*#&ing mp4 player by the looks of it. It plays music in mp4 format, whatever good that is to anyone. How is this thing still unable to play video files a year later?

Considering the xbox one is now going for $350 at amazon WITH AC Unity and plays MP4, this definitely peeves me.
