oh also check out thrill kill if you can find the "final" version. i think it might have only leaked on the internet so i don't know if there is an actual retail version.

WOW!

Seems I have missed out on a lot of games for the PS1. I'm going through the thread now, taking what seems to be highly rated and checking reviews and making a "to buy" list.

I suppose I was to busy playing Ocarina Of Time on the N64 too much along with Mario 64. Well, making a trip to the game store this weekend, gonna pick up a bunch of these....Of course the more popular games, they keep in their display cases. Run of the mill games, is shelved on the floor.

So yea, making a list now. And I LOVE anything Final Fantasy and Castlevania, and MGS.

i at one point had over 1300 psx games on cdr. ended up throwing away about 800 of em and gave the rest away lol. so many games were out on that console, with A LOT of great games.

LOL I still do. Not sure why..haven't had a working PS1 in years. Just easier (and better looking) to emulate them now.

If you have a PS3 you can get and play a lot of PS1 (and PS2) games through the Playstation Network. Games are like $3-$10.

Yea, I browsed some of the titles on the Network. But I prefer to have physical copies.

By the way, what is this "skipping" the original Playstation 1 does? It hasnt happened to me yet, but has me a little concerned. Is the Playstation 1 "2nd model" have these issues? If not, ill probably pick up one and store it away "just in case" 🙂

Only thing I can think of is maybe an audio/FMV movie issue. That is the only skipping that I have ever heard of and it seemed rather rare if my memory serves correct. Only other issue I can think of regarding early models was the track that the cd laser was mounted to was made from plastic and over time would warp from heat. But that was only after massive usage. I had an original model and never had these issues personally though I am one to keep them clean and dust free.

MGS1, final fantasy 7 and tactics, xenogears, gran turismo 1/2, syphon filter, twisted metal, lunar are all that come up immediately in my head. oh god, now i have to go replay some of these...

Tactics especially, i sunk so much time into that game, and it still holds up today. FF7 frustrates me today with the graphics and random battles (but thats for another conversation), but the storyline is killer.
