PLAYOFF Fantasy football : Help me pick a team

Ok, here are the rules for those who may not know.

1 Special Teams unit

You can take no more than TWO players from the same team. And obviously, once the team your players are on get beat, you get no points. Scoring system is standard fantasy football, 6 pts for a TD, etc.

So, here is what I'm thinking so far.

QB - Peyton Manning
RB - Edgerrin James
RB - ?
WR - Javon Walker
WR - Plaxico Burress
WR - ?
K - Ryan Longwell
D - Steelers
S/T - ?


Thoughts?

If you are looking at Green Bay receivers, consider Donald Driver. He's been much hotter than Walker for the past few weeks.

I don't. This one I'm in is run by a guy at work.

I am a bit hesitant to take Tomlinson because I think he's only going to play 2 games. I expect SD to beat the Jets but lose to whoever they play in round 2, so I may be out a RB half-way through. I was considering taking James and Ahman Green, as I expect James to play 3 games and Green Bay to get to the Super Bowl.

Everybody in the NFC stinks. green Bay's offense can take them through the garbage pile which is the NFC.

True, but the highest seeds have a 1st round bye. I'd say if you happen to pick players where everyone plays 2 games you should do very well. Ideally you team players who are playing this wild card weekend b/c they obviously have potential to play 4 games but also have more potential to lose as they face top seeds next week.

this is my tentative lineup... what do you all think?

My only advice goes against picking GB guys which is your gut feeling. In pools, its always best to go with your gut, especially if you are getting chirped from other people in the pool (ie. office peeps). Then you can rub it in their face when you take home the cash.

I think Denver is going to make some noise... so naturally I'd pick Plummer & probably Lelie but not Rod Smith, cuz Lelie is the target of the future and he's a gamer. Plus Jake the Snake loves chucking bombs for him. If you get points for long TDs which is usually the case in scoring pools, keep Burress and Harrison those are great picks. I'd ditch Wayne no matter what - you gotta leave him on the bench in favour of somebody like Hines Ward who is more likely to bring down a long ball. Say GB and IND score 35 each in hypothetical games. You would want to have Manning because he will have 4 TDs and Edge 1 rushing as opposed to Green with 2-3 and Favre with 2-3. I don't know... with the way Manning has been playing he's almost an automatic selection. Then again it's tough to rule out Rothleisberger (sp?) and even Brady. But like I said it's a kick in the nuts when you bet against your gut and it comes back to bite you. Good luck!
