Playing the guitar

because it takes practice...

You could say the same about alot of other things like, "Why is it so damn hard to skateboard?" it takes practice
Keep at it 😉

try learning some basic shords, scales then some 4 chord punk band songs (blink182) then to something a bit harder (Red hot chilipeppers) and then u can go on from there, always practice scales though (something i should be doing now actually

There are a few guitar nuts around here. I'm surprised CorporateRecreation hasn't posted here yet. 😉

I'm taking a guitar class in college with 20 other students. Should I get private guitar lessons?

Yeah...if you're just starting out, you really should get 4-6 private lessons. After that, the group lessons are OK. Keep at it, it took me about 2 years before I was good enough to play in front of crowds. Three years before they stoped calling the police and actually started listening 🙂

takes tons of practice. your friends only show yo usongs that they practiced for a while so it looks easy. those bastards!

fight back with long hard hours of your own practice.

i SUCK AT BARING!!

those F-s and that whole chord shape really fvck me over 🙁

If it was easy, everyone would be doing it and it would be no big deal 😉

In the last 13-14 years... do you have any idea how many people have said to me "Ooooh! I can play guitar, watch!"
Then they grab the guitar and proceed to play the opening to Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters"
Stupid Metallica.

How much does it cost per lesson?

It varies, but they tend to be around $20 for a 30 minute lesson.

If you're just starting out, i'd suggest getting your feet wet in a group class, privat instruction is more expensive. Learn to read notes, and scales: i cannot stress these two points enough. Then learn some open chords in first position, then learn the 4 chord shapes, and practice those, with those you can play about a good 75% of rock songs
