Playing online poker , and using your TV as a monitor

My uncle plays online poker ....A LOT....and wants to do it from the comfort of his couch. I'm not familiar with using the s-video or component outputs on a video card to display on a tv......
I've seen a friend do it with a long S-video cable ....and it looks like crap , you can't read anything because it's so distorted. Full screen video looks ok...but is there a tv tuner card that I can recomend to him that is cheaper than going with a full VIVO card as they are typically more expensive....
available slot options are PCI and AGP 8x.
Thanks for the space!!

that's what I was afraid of...I shouldn't have opened my mouth. Now he's all gung-ho about getting something to do this...and his TV is nowhere near high-def!! LOL Old school big screen tv!!!

Does he have a dvd recorder with component input hooked up to his tv by chance?

If so connect the video card to component in on the DVD recorder and the dvd recorder to the tv via the tv's best input.

The image obtained this is remarkably clear and I only have a crappy composite in tv set. the composite/s-video encoders in the dvd recorder provide far better quality than those on a video card - the quality on the tv screen is almost as good as an elcheapo monitor.
