Playing newer games with no video card?

This may be a dumb question but I'll never know for sure unless I ask. My g/f's brother wants to play BF2 but he only has the onboard video with his Dell. Is this a possibility, to play it with no video card? I figured it could be dumbed down enough but I'm not sure.

Edit: When he tries to run it, the screen flashes and he gets a CTD.

Thanks,
-Jason

BF2, no way.

UT2004 is playable in software mode or with onboard video. BF2 though has the highest minimum video card requirement of any game out there, at least as far as I know, by requiring not only 3D capabilities and hardware transform and lighting, but DX9 capability.

If the system was an AGP slot, or maybe a PCIe slot, you'll be able to drop in a decent card with ease. If not, you're limited to an GF4MX4000, FX5200, FX5500, and several iterations of Radeon 9000-9200.

Hey, thanks again for the added replies. He lives in TX now and I'm in NC, if it wasn't for that and the fact that he's not familiar with PCs, I would get him a card and install it myself. It was worth a shot to ask.
