Playing .mpg in OS X 10.4

I've only been using OS X for about a month, and for some reason some .mpg files won't play, while others do. And the ones that it plays..it plays about 10 or 15 seconds of it..not even the whole thing..

I guess you only tried Quicktime Player? Maybe you have to buy the MPEG-2 Playback Component for your movies. But nobody does... Use Video Lan Client instead.
