Playing .mp2 video files!

I created a .mp2 video file from my ati capture card, but cant seem to play it or be able to edit it with any program other than ati file player, which isnt that great. Is there any program out there that will play .mp2 video files and another program that is able to edit .mp2 files? Thanks

Here is a suggestion....

You need to install PowerDVD or some type of DVD software on your computer. When you install that software, it will load the necessary mpeg2 codecs in your Windows Media Player. You will be able to play .mp2 files with WMP. I'm not sure about editing.....Premiere won't edit it?

I'm sure:

a) You can find the mpeg2 codecs without installing DVD software (don't know where)
b) Someone else will be able to give you a better answer, I'm just suggesting what I did last year..
