Playing movives ( AVI / DIVX / etc... ) on Xbox 360 problem?

Vette73

I have a Xbox360. I hooked it up to the internet and D/Led the updates for playing AVI movies. Well I go to play a movie and it ask again to D/L the update. So do it again and the movie works. Turn the power off and again ti will not play a movie unless I have the internet connection to it.

Anybody have this problem and/or know a fix?

that's just how it is i believe, you have to be connected to the net in order to get the divx/xvid codec to playback files.

not 100% certain on that but pretty sure i remember hearing this.

It was not like that before. My last Xbox played them fine after I D/Led the update.

I hope this is not part of the new software/OS. My old Xbox had the old style and the new one was updated to the new style.

Again, Tversity will make your life a whole lot easier.

 He speaks the truth. Just load TVersity on whatever computer your files are on, add those videos to the library, and from your 360 you'll see TVersity as a video source choice. Easy and painless.

I'm not having this issue. Does it do it everytime, or have you only done it twice? Couldn't possibly be a different codec type?

I'm guessing you got your console replaced my Microsoft?

And you downloaded the DIVX playback update with the old console first?

You need to transfer the license for that (and anything else you downloaded on the old console) to the new console's serial number.

You can can it on the Xbox website fairly easily.
