I can't seem to find it on the search but I'm sure this has been asked many times so hopefully someone can give me a quick how-to on this.

I just bought a router and want to hook up a few computers to the internet. Well, that was a breeze and installation was fast. However, when my buddies came over and we all wanted to play Counter-Strike on the same server, it would boot one of us out. It did that for all the subsequent servers. I understand that some servers do not allow single IPs to join, but I think it has something to do with only one computer capable in being in the DMZ of the firewall. I know it is possible to play CS online through a router with a bunch of people, but no one at home knows the answer. Anyway, I have a cable connection and an SMC router if that helps any. Thanks.

I don't have the full answer, but a partial one.

The prob you are having isn't that you're all connecting to the server with the same IP, it's that your all connecting to the same server with the same IP AND on the same port. It can't sort out that there's multiple connections, it thinks there's one and it has problems.

Here's where my answer turns partial...
In Quake 3 you can add "+set net_port 27961" and 27962, 27963 etc. to the command line of each different client and they'll all connect on a different port. I believe there's a way to do this in CS but I'm not sure what it is. Hell, it might be the same since CS was based on the Quake 1 engine a long time ago.

Give folks here a bit to reply and they might give you an answer but I bet your question would be answered quicker on one of the CS/Halflife forums somewhere.

Ooh, thanks smilin, we play Q3 also haha. Anyone else know? For CS/HL and other games like BF1942? What about Jedi Knight 2?

Do you have different CD-keys on each computer? I was able to join a room successfully last night with 2 computers while just messing around.
