Ok I have a creative audigy ZS or ZX (what ever) 2 in my computer which technically supports 7.1 but I only need it to support 5.1 because thats all I got. I've got an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro so it had a DVD decoder. Now I was wondering if it was possible that with ATI's DVD player software that I could watch a movie with 5.1 surround sound, THX all that crap through the analog ports on my sound card. Is there some THX processing deteced/done with my sound card? Cause my soundcard has a THX utility "setting" and I'm assuming it's certified.

THX is not an audio format for consumer AV, it's really only a seal of approval. The surround formats for DVD are just Dolby and DTS.

Most DVD player software can decode Dolby Digital and DTS to analog 5.1, just like the chip inside a receiver does.

You may need to set up speakers as 5.1 in your soundcard control panel, then choose *analog* 5.1 in the DVD player software setup

K, thats what thought, My reciever supports 5.1 DTS and Dolby Digital but because creative are b1tches, they won't letme output directly to my reciever with one simple cable. I have it setup as 5.1 in the creative control panel but I seem to not be able to find the analog 5.1 option in the ati control panel. I remember on my AIW card (which I can't use right now) it had digital out and it could do 5.1 but it would have to output to the reciever.
