I have a dvd that i'm trying to play on my computer because I have it hooked up to my tv.. instead of watching it on my parents tv with their dvd player. but the screen size isn't right.. it cuts off half of the dvd.

I took 2 screenshots to show you the difference.. do you have any idea how I could correct it?

their tv with dvd player:

video card manufacturer and model
monitor/tv manufacturer and model
how it is connected to the tv

need that info please.

edit:

the dreamworks looks okay, it's a widescreen dvd, that looks normal, maybe your monitor/tv can not handle widescreen.

nvidia geforce 6600 .. dvi connector to hdmi converter

however it's the same way when displayed on my monitor too.. which is hooked up through vga.

dreamworks is from my parents tv.. that's what I was saying.. it works fine on their tv and not mine.

my tv has 720 and 1080.. so it handles widescreen.. it's a 27" widescreen viewsonic tv.

why such a odd resolution, and it's not handling widescreen obviously. I'd recheck the nvidia drivers and utility, and also consult the owners manual for the monitor.

720 and 1080 are common widescreen resolutions..

I know that it's not displaying the video in widescreen mode correctly.. that's why I made a post because I don't know how to fix it.

I never had mine set that low, have you even read the monitor manual and did you check to see what the setting are in ntune for dvd playback, and also whatever software you are using to play dvd's?
