Anyone have experience using them? I would like to get into playing stuff like NFS4 but hate using the keyboard or PS/2 joystick to drive in games, would love to be able to use a wheel though. Any recommendations?

IMO yes, though many people prefer the gamepad. Try one, if you can, before you buy one (or buy one where it can be returned easily).

I think it's definitely easier to play with a gamepad, but a driving wheel makes it much more fun.

I just got a logitech force feedback MOMO wheel for playing NFS:MW and I love it. I played the game for a little while with the game pad and it's soooo much better with the wheel. For one thing with the game pad it's kind of a pain in the a$$ having shifting, acceleration, breaking, and steering all on the game pad. It is way better having your acceleration and braking controlled by your feet, freeing up hands and fingers for other things. Having a shifter is really nice, and on the logitech momo wheel you have two paddles right behind the steering wheel so when your hand is on the wheel, your fingers are right there to trigger them (I have mine set up for nitro on the left and hand brake on the right though I never really use the hand brake).

If you enjoy driving games and play them a lot a wheel is a must have. If you rarely play them then maybe it's not worth the money.

I agree, especially in arcade games like ricey Underground and Most Lame I mean Wanted. I have a Act-Labs Force RS wheel. The company is now dead but they made awesome products. They even came out with a clutch with the pedals as well as a stick shifter. I only have the wheel. The only really good racing game I have right now is NFS: PU which is old but very fun to play with a wheel.

You could probably find an Act labs shifter used.
