Playing at the Casino's

I have been to Las Vegas, and to New Orleans, Louisiana... played and gambled at these places. When Galveston did have the gambling boats (they don't anymore) I got to go offshore on one of those. I always take a small amount for my "casual" gambling... and leave it at that. If I lose it all I just walk away and call it fun entertainment... I don't take too seriously.

The most I have ever won was at the slot machines the very first time I did get to gamble. Bells and Whistles went off and the coins came tumbling out, ka beloved patriot ka beloved patriot ka beloved patriot!

Any gamblers here? Have you ever won or lost? If so how much?

I'm a terrible gambler, and really don't enjoy it. I've never won anything. In New Orleans, I'd just go to the video poker bar at Harrah's and slowly plunk in quarters and have them keep bringing me drinks while my friends gambled. I'd get plastered, and usually only spend about $20. So, I guess I came out ahead in terms of alcohol consumed for the $. 😉

ValKyrie, I'm kind of like you ~ I take $50-$100 and play till I'm broke or have had enough fun. I have left there having lost $50 like twice before and figured it was good entertainment. The other times I've left with a little more or less than I brought. I usually go to Lake Charles casinos. I've prolly been less than 10 times total.

One time though, I went to Colorado and stayed in the casino town there one night. Playing nickle slots, I hit that accumulating jackpot thing for a little over $2000. That was such an awesome feeling!!! Too bad it wasn't dollar slots 😛 but I'm a wuss at gambling (smart).

I really only play slots though!

Most won was about 500 bucks over a weekend in Vegas playing blackjack.

Most lost was about 300, also blackjack in Vegas.

You see, no one told me that drinks were free when you were gambling! My dad took me and my brother to Bilouxi Mississippi on my 21st birthday. I saw all the waitress' walking around but I never thought about it. I kept going up to the bar and paying for them, untill finally me and my bro were sitting there and he gets a beer from the waitress. He tossed a couple bucks on her tray as a tip. I had been paying $4-5 per beer. That's when he told me they are free if you are gambling. I probablly spent more on alcohol than I lost at the gambling tables. 🙁

To answer the OP's question, I lost about $500 dollars on my second trip. That SUCKED, but it taught me a valuable lesson. Now when I go I neve gamble with more than $50-100. You have just as much fun, and you don't feel guilty afterwards.

LOL..! I can relate... I do the quarter slots. Once in a blue moon I might play the Roulete or crap table... but only when I'm with friends.

Oh, and to add to my previous post, the weekend I lost %500, my brother won something like $4000. He hit on the same machine TWICE for $650 in a matter of 20 minutes. He hit, the guy comes out, checks the machine and gives him his money. As the guy is walking away we are standing there trying to decide what to do next. He is just casually dropping quaters in he same machine when it hits AGAIN! The guy had to just turn around and come right back. 😀

Good times, good times.

I don't generally do a lot of gambling when I am at a casino. I focus my time at the poker tables.

The most I have ever lost in one hand at the poker table is close to $200. I have also won pots over $700.

I was never very good at cards, but Black Jack is a pretty easy card game. You can lose alot of money at the card tables... I learned that the hard way a long time ago! LOL

I like to combine my gambling, with the peripheral entertainment. When I was in Vegas I just had to see the Famous "La Femme" show. Went to the Studio 21 club, replica of the one in New York. That was a blast!

Tried my hand at golfing on the golf courses, did the spa treatment thing. Oh yea, and lest not forget... Shopping! heh heh heh

a few years ago, we went to a Casino Windsor in (where else) Windsor, ON for my birthday... my hubby and I and his brother were playing two slot machines(Elvis slots) next to each other and were sharing coins. One hit pretty big on the "bonus" spin and we got a nice amount of money, i think around a few hundred. we split it and were happy. That is the most i have ever won.

I generally just donate to the Casino when I go.

However on occaision I do come out ahead.... the most I've won was like $600.

My wife, on the other hand, seems to be, in general, able to recoup my losses.

She's hit on slot machines for $7,500 once and $5,000 once, and lots of times she's come home with $400-500 more than she left the house with.

Living in LV, I usually use the casino's for free food & entertainment.

I will stop by at a craps table sometimes and start up with 20-40.

Max that that has produced has been $1400 over a 2-3 hr stretch. Nice cold table:thumbsup:

Usually I will leave with 20-100. More fun watching the fools.

Wife will usually leave ahead of the game after 2-3 hours with video poker.

Max at the sports has been $2500 for a $5 bet (pure luck).

Most times I will get 2 for 3 bets which is just above the break even point.

It is her track record that makes it so we do not have to buy groceries. 😀

Agreed. I was down at the WPT $220 satellite at the Borgata in AC a few weeks ago. I busted out in something like 98th place out of 330 (Top 20% moved on). So, I proceeded to hit the 1/2NL tables for a few hours. Ended up $180 even with terrible cards. They are almost a joke on a Saturday night, so long as you cherry pick your opponents. All told, I left down $40 for about 8 or 9 hours of entertainment. It?s pretty hard to do that anywhere else at the casino.

$300 blackjack losses have happened a couple times. also been up $500-800 occasionally. but i lose more often than i win.

I won ~$2000 playing blackjack and craps one night in vegas. We also got our whole stay, a fancy dinner for 4, and a couple of brunches comped.

$400. It was our last day in Vegas, we were at the Monte Carlo, and I was down a couple hundred from playing a little blackjack and roulette (normally I just play poker but it was my first time in Vegas, so when in Rome...). One of my big gambler friends sees one of those "Wheel of Fortunes" which is a giant wheel that gets spun and if the it lands on the number you put money on, you get paid off in those odds. My friend puts down $10 on the Joker and 40 spots (both pay off 40 to 1, but there's only one of each on the wheel). I do the same and so do two other friends.

The dealer spins the wheel. He's some old guy that starts mocking us by saying "Now if you guys win, you're be winning 400, 800, 1200, 1600 dollars!" as he counts off our wagers. My gambler friend replies with "Start counting it up!" Me and my friends are on our toes with anticipation. The wheel starts to slow. I'm starting to think we've all lost our $20. But wait! The 40 spot is nearing, do the wheel have enough momentum??? Tick....tick.........tick......MAKE IT FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD DAMMIT! 40! WOOOHOOO. $400 in my pocket!

We made quite a scene there. 🙂

I lost $50 of my boss' money once (he kinda forced me to sit down and play video poker with his money - got bored after 10 minutes and started betting the max every time). Probably lost $20 a few times...won $20-30 a few times. I'm not a big gambler as you can see 🙂.

I won't tell you the amount (my fiancee neffs) but when I went for my 21st birthday, I won enough to buy the engagement ring and wedding set and still bring more that I took home.

It was a great weekend!

I didn't know the drinks were free. Do they serve softdrinks or just alcohol? I did notice the girls were wearing only panties. That was great. I lost $80 my first time in Vegas. I played slot machines and video poker. I don't think you can come out ahead with video poker. I get mostly pairs and get paid what I put in. MEH!
