Playing Age of Conan.. What would I be better off upgrading?

Yeah I'm in the same boat. The soundtrack was great, locations were great, universe was great, but there were just too many technical issues to justify paying for it.

Beta testers raced to the end-game content instead of actually going step-by-step and reporting bugs.

Not true, bugs, suggestions and criticism were greeted by a wave of hate from fanboys who felt the game was perfect as is. There were so many glaring flaws with the game during beta, sad to see its only getting worst. Glad I made the decision not to buy retail, it sounds like many others have run their course with the game as well after only a few months.

I've never seen a game get worse with every patch. It's really sad because I loved the game for the first month. Around the middle of June they introduced a wicked bug that freezes my video for 3-6 secs intervals around every 1-2 minutes or so depending on the zone. Between that and the 10k lag spikes seem to get worse every week I'm getting to the point of cancelling soon. Then there is the out of memory bugs that they can't resolve.

I have a bad feeling the coding is shoddy as all hell. I've seen some horrible code in my life and when it's so hacky and poorly written it is nearly impossible to fix and debug, you pretty much have to start over clean. Given the steady increase in bugs I'm pretty sure this must be some incredibly ugly and hacky code.

Sad...very sad. Almost as sad as making 47 posts in 9 years 🙂

the coding is shoddy.... they copy a lot of stuff from Anarchy Online.

when they first put the pvp stats in the game, if you mouse over them, it shows the description of stats from Anarchy Online. I don't know if it is fixed.

It is odd how with every patch performance seems to go down a bit, coding is shoddy, i agree, but it's still light years ahead of where Vanguard was.
