Playing a DVD in Windows Media player

Whenever I try to play a DVD in Windows Media player I get an error saying windows media player cannot play the DVD. Try lowering your resolution and Colour. I tried at 800*600 16bit but it stull doesnt work.

Stop messing w/ windows. I've got a few copies of PowerDVD here. Never miss an opportunity to pimp out your own FS stuff :)

WMP cannot play DVDs without a DVD decoder installed because Windows doesn't come bundled with one.

This is most likely the answer already. If you had any other DVD program installed, you'd use it. You probably saw that WMP can play DVDs, but it does not come with a decoder, because Microsoft would have to license that. Well, they don't, and so you still have to install a decoder.
