Wow. I almost wanted to buy it right then and there even though there are nice slickdeals.

Fry's has a pretty nice selection out there. They had the T1i, T2i, 50D, 7D, 5D2 and of course competing models too, but they had a very complete Canon lineup (save for the 1D).

I played with the T1i which I have and the T2i. Decent. Same stuff obviously. Then I picked up the 7D. The first thing I did was fire it off at 8fps. Wow. I honestly like shuddered in awe. It was like a joygasm or something because I totally felt it through my body. Then I looked through the viewfinder. Wow. What the hell was I looking through before? And how come I was never this amazed when using a 40D? Large and 100%. Then you have the AF system... Amazing stuff.

Then I went to play with the 5D2. That thing is a beast too. The 24-105L really suits it well. The fact that I can get less DOF than my Canon 17-55mm on a crop is pretty interesting. I like.

Too bad I don't have money for this. Well I do, but I should really be saving it for more important things like grad school :D

because it's a better VF than the 40D =P

You should pick up a 1D and fire it off. It's jaw dropping, heh. ok, maybe I'm exaggerating, but it certainly is impressive.

Well 500D (T1i) => 40D/50D is a step up in VF, but I was never like whoah. I guess at a certain point (7D) the jump is noticeable enough its just night and day. Of course 5D2 is even more impressive in size although I love the 7D's 100% view.

You should find an Olympus OM-1 and look through the VF. Now THAT is jaw dropping.

Here, check this out: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=465469

The 7D VF is significantly larger than 40/50D. It's even larger than the 1DII and 1DIII!

what's amazing is that olympus managed to cram that giant finder into that tiny body. i just pulled mine out and despite a much larger finder the camera is not as big as my AE-1, let alone my spotmatic.

i'd say the finder is about 2x the size of my rebel 2k and 3x the size of my 40D. it's larger than both the AE-1 and the spotmatic as well.

i need to go run some film through it. been playing with an instamatic (yashica ez-matic electronic) recently. the lady at costco processes the film returns it in the cannister for me. ~$2.50 a roll

for a draw dropping finder that makes you wonder why we squint through the tunnels that the 40D and D300 provide, have a peek through a pentax 67.
