Good to hear the news about workforce cuts, despite knowing more than a couple of people who work at RIM. They've really grown rather out of control in recent years and need to pare back, hopefully trimming the verticality of the organization.

That's not news, it's been known and official for some time now.

That totally explains why RIM made an official announcement this morning, knowing full well that every newspaper in the world would pick up the story and drive the stock even lower.

Thanks for clarifying.

good riddance, the QNX guys are much better people to deal with taking RIM into the future, not the guy who kept the platform stagnant.

Jesus... you threw that poor bastard under the bus fast, didn't you?

For the record, here are the two guys responsible for keeping the platform stagnant:

I thought RIM was doing so well, selling like hotcakes overseas?

Apple doesn't sell the iPhone in all countries, neither do HTC, Samsung, etc. Blackberry fills in the void, especially where Jobs doesn't think it's worth his company's while to sell (more attention on the major markets like North America, Europe and Asia).
