AMD A8-3850 @ 2.9 GHz
FM1 mATX board, A75 chipset
4GBx2 DDR3 1866 9-10-9-28
Radeon HD 6550D @ 600 MHz (Llano IGP)

Windows 7 64-bit

Notes:
1. HD 6550D was derived from HD 5570, an Evergreen GPU which was released in February 2010
2. Frame rate during typical game play is 30 to 35 fps in most games. Some games will even run around 45 fps. In parts where there is smoke, fog, or big explosions, frame rate is 25 to 30 fps depending on the game

It is nice to be able to play so many games, but does anyone really want to play at 1280 x 720 on the desktop? If you want to game, I would still go with Intel and a discrete card for a desktop. Llano for laptops is much more attractive IMO. If trinity can deliver its promised increase in graphics performance, it might be good enough to allow more mainstream resolutions on a bigger selection of games.

I'm not terribly surprised. This chip does a passable job with newer games if you really tweak the settings and are not after jaw dropping frame rates. I built a machine for my wife using a similar setup (A8-3850 with 4GB ram) with the idea that we could play coop Portal 2 on occasion and it works perfectly for that purpose.

I wouldn't want to play Skyrim (or any other game where eye candy is a key component) but as a basic machine, it's a great cheap fit.

Whats wrong with what he posted? :confused:

Also gaming in the 1280 area isn't bad. I game at 1366 and its perfectly fine for me. Not everyone cares about the every last ounce of goodness. :p

If they can get Llano chips into more 13' & 14" laptops I'd have my first AMD system in a LOOOOONNNNGGGG time. These settings and rez are great for an on the go gaming computer. LAN parties might come back to life with the advent of some decent cheap gaming laptops. Biggest downside for LAN gaming is the absurd set-up time and hauling your 30 pound rig all over the place and the biggest shortcoming of laptops is their inability to do anything gaming related unless you lay down a paycheck. Sounds like a match made in heaven if you ask me.

Can a mod check the OPs' IP? Very suspicious first post.

I love your bias. A guy makes a useful first post and you think it's suspicious because it's about an AMD product. :rolleyes:

I also have a Sony PS3. I think we all know that PS3 games run at 1280 x 720

But based on my perceived image quality, a PC version of the same game running at 1280 x 720 still looks better than its console version. I tried it with Dead Space 2 and Mafia II.

Sorry, I don't have an HDMI capture device to make in-game screenshots in PS3

Well, for me, if you will build a budget gaming PC based on an Intel Core i3 2100, pair it with at least a Radeon HD 6570 or HD 6670

I'm no troll

Just sharing helpful info for gamers on a tight budget

My previous gaming PC's used mid-range GPU's and Intel Core i series

I know many might consider me retarded for going to a Llano platform

But, yes, the hardware specs in my first post is my gaming PC. I don't know, I just find it cool to be able to play PC games without a discrete GPU

I might buy an A8-3870K and see how far HD 6550D can go

I would appreciate it if you would take the time to run FRAPS, or otherwise benchmark the games you mentioned. Just a request.

Sorry for the choppy video footage. But as you can see in the frame rate counter in the upper left portion of the game window, the frame rate is around 40 fps. Also, Mass Effect 3 utilizes all the 4 CPU cores of A8-3850 as shown by the CPU usage monitor in the upper right portion of the video

V-sync was disabled by adding these lines in the file "GamerSettings.ini"

SmoothFrameRate=False
UseVSync=False

"GamerSettings.ini" is located in "\Users\[username]\My Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\Config"

Does AF cause a noticeable hit? I thought running x16 AF has been a non-issue since about the Radeon 9700/9800 days?
