play Playstation2 on PC? HELP!

I'm trying to play my PS2 on my PC.

I also bought Plextor AV100U thinking that it would let me do that.

Anyone tried doing this before? How should I do it?
or maybe the problem lies with what software I should use?

Please help me. Thanks.

What are you trying to do exactly? Use the monitor to display the video out from a real PS2 (you'll need a TV card)? Or play PS2 games by running them on your PC (you'll need an emulator, such as PCSX2 or nSX2)?

sorry for the confusion...

I'm trying to play my playstation 2 but using my LCD monitor. not emulator.

What software should I use?

You'll need a video card with a video-in jack (such as the ATI All-in-Wonder series), or a TV tuner card (which will have a video-in jack). They come with software that lets you decode TV signals.

there are no LCD monitors available that allow direct connection to a XBOX/PS2?

LCD <------> XBOX/PS2

Yes, but they are usually sold as LCD TVs. Just look for 1 with an s-video input.

viewsonic has an external tv card that u can hook up to a monitor without even using a pc if u wanted to. my old roommate had one, it was cool since u could play xbox using the pc monitor.

Capturing the video from the PS2 on your PC then displaying it on your PC monitor is a pretty strange idea, and it won't look much better than just playing on a TV, because you're still just going to be capturing the signal that would go to the TV.

If you want your PS2 to look better than it does on TV, you're going to have to get something that outputs the actual VGA signal from the PS2, like this:

I think you can use that box without booting from the CD, but it's supposed to actually raise the resolution of games if you boot from the CD.

If you run it through your PC, you will not get a better picture. It will not look any better than it would if you just got a plain RCA -> VGA converter like this thing:

Hi, I know I'm ressurecting an old thread, but has anyone used something like the VD-Z3 or any of the things Tostada posted? I'm looking for an easy way to get a *good* picture on my monitor (something comparable to the 27" Component-Conected Panasonic I now use)

Are there any other comparable products that'll work well?
