I should clarify that I take no issue with the original play-doh toy this thread started from since it's not an actual adult toy. I do have issues with children playing with a real adult toy though. I take it you don't? I hope it was at least washed before given to the child.

If you read the caption and had a couple of functioning brain cells that weren't consumed on prudish outrage you could probably extrapolate that the child had found it and was pretending it was a microphone, nobody gave it to him. As the child doesn't know what it is it doesn't really matter. I also hope it was thoughly cleaned though.

Why does every site say it looks exactly like a penis? Exactly who's penis looks like that? A child of typical Play Doh age would never make that association. It's the repressed adults that see penises everywhere. What it does look like is an "adult" toy. Perhaps that's what's making the parents upset (embarrassed?). Maybe not so much that their kids might think it's a penis, but they might be out with friends when one of their kids says "Mommy... don't you have one of those under your bed?".

If a penis was actually shaped like that, with an opening such as that, with balls on either side of the shaft, with large dots around the head, it would be a horrific site. I see no point to this outrage. Does it do what it's advertised to do? If so, make no reference to it's resemblance to other items and let it be. Lots of things look like other things. They aren't those other things though. The comparison to those other things is a phenomenon that goes on in your head and may have no bearing on anything in the real world.
