I wannna play gran tourismo 4 on ps2,,I'm trading my xbox for a ps2 just for Gran Tourismo. I don't have a credit card to play the xbox online tho,so thats a bit of a bummer that you need a credit card for microsofts online play.,

You don't need a credit card. Buy a subscription card in-stores.

And why don't you get Forza instead?

Its really not worth it. Maybe you can borrow a PS2 from a friend for a week or two, and in exchange let him play your 360 when you get it:) But really, especially with forza, in two months you are going to say to yourself "why did i waste my money on this?"

I'm certain you could find a PS2 really cheap, if you wanted to. Not to mention that the PS3 is backwards compatibly and will play GT4 as well.

Yes, I think getting a PS3 would be a safer and more-rewarding route

Uh, the PS3 won't be out until at least May 2006 and he wants to play GS 4 now. I haven't seen any real issue with the more recent PS2 builds myself.

Edit: hit the wrong key it should be GT4

I just got GT4, all I can say is WOOOOOOOOTTTTT!!!!!! This is the game the earlier versions SHOULD have been! Real-ish cars on real tracks! The game has an option to force hi-def out of the standard-def PS2, but it's 1080i only (no 720p) and the setting cannot be saved, you have to set it every power-up. 16:9 pic, Dolby Pro Logic, no DD.

Unfortunately, I have heard of a lot of PS2 systems crapping out. This one acted a little wierd with Madden 04, but it didn't go belly-up. Fingers crossed.

Consoles vs. puters- Each has it's place. If it's one or the other, puter every time. I regret spending the dough on the PS2, just to play Madden and GT.

Sell your freakin xbox already!!!

i would get anything in the 40000 or 50000 model numbers or maybe some of the high 30000 numbers...those seem to all work fine.

word of advice: wait at least 6 months before buying a new system (or any sony product) that has just been released...

I would wonder if it is spoecifc models or just people not treating them right. I've seen MANY people shove the CD tray in rather than push the button, and not just a tap but literally shove that in and then complained about "inferior sony quality" when it crapped out...

What i would say is make sure it has a warranty on it...and try to get an extended one if its less than 30 because two years from now if it dies you have $$ to fix it.
