plastic playing cards (poker)

Make sure you purchase the over sized cards. Kem / Copag I heard both were good.

Don't they also have a Lifetime Guarantee ?

i think copag does.

yeah i am definitly gonna get wide regulars

They say the cards are washable and what not, but after some use, i'm sure it'll show wear and tear.

If you want a different alternative, check your local grocery store. They sell Decks for usually 99 cents a pop.

With the cost of the Copag or Kems you can probably get like 15 decks.

check out the reviews: http://www.homepokertourney.com/cards_review.htm

i have sets of Copaqs and Modianos.

if you don't mind spending a few bucks, try out a sample pack: http://cgi.ebay.com/PLASTIC-Playing-Car...8QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

i got poker sizes (2.5" width) and jumbo index for both sets. i like the jumbo index for when we have a larger group of people, so everyone can see the board. the copags are pretty close to the kem's and they're much less expensive. the modiano's are noticeably thicker than the kems and copags, but have a nice color to them. they're not super thick, just thicker than the copag/kem's which feel thinner than plastic coated/cheap cards.

i've used a 99 cent deck in a night's worth of poker and they had to be trashed. they were sticky and dirty.

i've been using two decks of Copags for months and wiped them with a damp cloth twice, after which they felt brand new. the difference is night and day, especially with the way they feel....like when you shuffle them. people will notice and i think it's definitely worth the price. once you start using plastic cards, using cheap deck will be unacceptable 😛

When I usually play, we play with 2 99 cent decks among 4- 8 people. Depending on how many heads we get a night to play.

They usually last 2 or 3 sessions between us. and then we switch to new decks.

Hmm... I've never even heard of these. How much do these cost typically? I and a group friends have a weekly small stakes poker game. I might be interested in picking some of these up.

you really need to play with a deck of Kems or Copags to appreciate them. it's not just durability, but they feel so nice. it's like using those cheap/plastic poker chips your grandfather might have had, compared to using clay/composite chips. sure the cheap ones will do, but it just feels nicer 🙂

You should expect to spend about $15 - 20 bucks for the Copag or Kems.

Copags are a bit cheaper.

kems are the best, by which others are usually measured, but they are like $12-15 per pack. Copags are a good value at around $6-7 per pack.

keep in mind that sets on ebay are usually for two decks: good for using two decks in games to make them go faster.

also, be aware of sizes of cards and sizes of the index (the A, K, Q, J, 10, etc on the card's corners)

Where can I buy these? I don't really want to look right now since I'm at work and I'm not sure poker sites would go over well 🙂

check out the ebay link i posted above. it's a sample pack of several manufacturers. you can get a great idea of which card you like best.

Copags are nice, but the colors aren't as bright as KEMs, and the typeface used is more "blocky" than your typical Bicycle deck.

link

That being said, I went from Bicycle to Royal Plastic to Copags, and now the Copags are the only ones I use.

I got my 2-pack for ~$16 shipped on eBay from seller CaraGails.

btw, Copag has an individual card replacement program, so a deck isn't ruined if one card is lost or mangled. you can order just the card you're missing.

kem ftw, we use them in ALL of our poker games, whether it be at someones house or the local pizza place after it closes, kem all the way

I use KEM cards and love them. Be aware though, that when you first use them, THEY STINK. After some use the smell somewhat goes away, but if you put the card close to your nose its still noticeable.
