Plastic on the bottom of GPU Heatsink

Hi,

I just got a 2nd hand stock heatsink/hsf for an x800. It has a plastic clear "sticker" on the bottom of it that covers the majprity of it except under the fan motor and the GPU area. Here is a pic of what I mean: x800

I am assuming that it might be a type of insulation... also note in the pic that the sticker covers a "hole" in the heatsink. So, my question is, does the plastic belong there or does it get removed?

Thanks much

See how hard it is to take off. If it comes off easily, it's just packaging material, and if it's hard to remove then it is probably supposed to stay there, whatever it is.

Looks like its supposed to be there to improve airflow over the area of the GPU... unless its causing some kind of problem I'd leave it alone.

Thanks, it's working fine and doing much better than the other sink I had on there. About 10c to 12c difference under load 🙂
