plastic dust-cover on LCD monitor cause it to overheat?

I use my LCD monitor for 9 hours a day, then turn it off. The air-vents in the back are still hot. Would I damage my monitor if I immediately put on a plastic dust-cover? Or would it not matter since the monitor is turned off and it can't get any hotter? Thanks.
