Plasma TV - Weird Red Pixels all Over (Ghosting??). What's Wrong???

I got my 42" Akai HDTV Plasma last during Fry's Black Friday sale last year, so it's only about 6-7 months old. It worked fine at first, but recently (within the last month or so), it's been acting up.

When I'm watching television, a DVD, playing a game or whatever, there seems to be a red ghosting effect on everything (really bad on borders). It's like a red burn-in image (more like a red shadowing image), but the only thing is, the burn-in image is of what was just on the screen a couple seconds before. It then fades out and just repeats over and over and is really annoying to say the least.

It happens in both dark and light scenes, whether they are slow moving or fast paced, although dark scenes are a bit worse.

Here are a few pics to show what I am talking about:

What's the deal here? Hopefully you TV experts will give me some insights. Since the TV is still under warranty (1 year parts and labor), I'll be giving Akai a call tomorrow but wanted to hear your guys' opinion too.

In the warranty, it states that they are not responsible and will not fix burn-in image. This isn't really a case of 'burn-in' right? I've never kept the TV on a channel that has a fixed image anywhere, nor do I play games that have gauges and meters that may burn in. I guess the best way to describe it would be a lagging ghosting type effect that appears in red.

Thanks for any help.

Obviously your TV doesn't like you watching The Grudge. J/k, but from the pics it looks cool but probably undesirable.

Doesn't look at all like burn in. Check your cables, just to be sure; but I'd say 10 to 1 Akai will have to suck this one up and give you a new one.

wow never seen anything like that. Looks pretty busted. I once had uniform red dots over my entire picture due to a cheap component cable but nothing like that.
