How easy is it to wall mount plasma tv's.

I'm in Atlanta and I was wondering if ATOT'ers know of any local shops that provides professional mounting services?

Thx!

well i choose not to hang mine on the wall. if it were to fall, i think i would burn down all the big buildings in nashville.

you are screwed if it falls and breaks.

I think the main thing here is to buy a quality wall mount that can support the weight of your TV. Once you buy the mount, invest in some good wall anchors and make sure you're either mounting it to a stud or through some thick sheetrock. Be sure to put as many anchors as you can and follow the instructions.

don't try to mount it to the sheet rock *doh*. not matter what you do, get a stud-finder and make sure you're securely into two studs.

here is my more specific advice. absolutely do not mount it in anything but a stud. you are teh stoopid if you seriously try to butterfly nut or anchor into nothing, especially with something as expensive as a plasma tv. my TV is only like 60lbs and its a 42", but i would never trust 1/2" or 3/4" drywall to hold my baby. that weight (60lbs) distributed 4 places (the number of holes for a wall mount) will hardly put any pressure on any 1 anchor, but still...think about the TV man. if something bumps your wall and knocks it off the left side anchors, you are then depending on 1 or 2 screws to hold up the precious...so its up to you.

I'm just trying to find a local shop that'll do it professionally. I'm not going to mount those things myself :)

Call up an audio shop that does installations. The brackets run about $119, then you'll just add their labor on top of that.

The brackets could be very well more than that...and we personally don't install anything we didn't sell, but then again, we're in the snobbiest part of Metro Detroit, so I'm sure some shops will sell their labor.
