My dad is interested in getting a large plasma screen to use as his monitor for his office, something to hang on the wall opposite his desk (lucky bastard).

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these, or any suggestions. There's a 50" one at office depot that i can get for just over $8k, but I'm wondering if anyone here knows anything else about them.
Thanks!

I would check to see what kind of resolutions it supported, and then actually look at one and see if the image quality is up to par. Even though it is a plasma screen, it is primarily a television, which have inherently lower resolutions than even small crt monitors, so it might not be as good as you expect. That's why I'd recommend trying one first, Best Buy (larger ones) have them on display, so you could probably take a laptop and plug it in to test it.

The specs i've seen on Plasma display are generally around 1024x768.... If you think this is good enuff for viewing stuff from 4 Ft. (?) away, go for it...

I suppose higher resolutions are gonna cost more, but its gonna give you a better picture.
